My Productive Routine as a Working Muslim Moms During Kid's Summer Vacations
how I make summer c=vacations time productive along with balancing my work
Hey there, amazing moms!
Summer is here, and with it comes a break from the daily school routine for our little ones. As a remote-working mom, I know how crucial this time is for our kids. Summer vacations aren't just about a break from school; they play a vital part in our kids' whole year routine. This time helps them relax, explore new interests, and bond with us in ways that the hectic school year doesn't always allow.
The Magic of Summer
Summer is a time for kids to recharge their batteries. It’s a period when they can dive into creative activities, explore new hobbies, and most importantly, spend quality time with family. For us moms, it’s an opportunity to create lasting memories with our children and nurture their growth in fun and engaging ways.
But let’s be real – balancing work and making the most out of our kids' vacation time can be quite a juggling act. So, I thought I’d share my routine with you, hoping it might help my fellow moms find that sweet spot of productivity and family time.
My Productive Routine as a Working Muslim Mom
Here’s a glimpse into my day during summer vacations:
Early Morning Hustle
I kickstart my day with Fajr prayer, which gives me a peaceful and spiritual beginning. After that, I take about 30 minutes for myself – whether it’s a quick workout, some meditation, or simply enjoying a quiet cup of coffee. This “me time” is essential for setting a positive tone for the rest of the day.
Breakfast and Planning
By 7:00 AM, the kids are usually up and about. We have breakfast together – a mix of healthy and fun foods to keep everyone happy. Post-breakfast, we sit down and plan the day together. This planning session involves a mix of educational activities, fun outings, and some screen-free creative time.
Work Mode: ON
By 9:00 a.m., I switch into work mode. I’ve found that a solid 3-hour work block in the morning is when I’m most productive. During this time, the kids are engaged in their morning activities—be it reading, art projects, or playing in the backyard. I make sure to check in on them every now and then to keep the connection alive.
Midday Break
Around noon, I take a break to have lunch with the kids. We catch up on what we’ve done so far, and it’s a great way to break the work monotony. Post-lunch, we either go for a short walk or engage in a fun indoor activity. This break helps me recharge and keeps the kids entertained.
Afternoon Shift
By 1:30 PM, I’m back at my desk for another work session. This block usually lasts until around 4:00 PM. During this time, the kids often have some screen time – educational shows, interactive games, or virtual playdates with friends. This way, they’re entertained, and I can focus on getting my work done.
Evening Fun
The late afternoon is all about family time. We might hit the park, do some gardening, or simply play board games. Dinner prep is a family affair, too, where the kids help out with simple tasks. It’s a great way to teach them about cooking and responsibility.
Wind Down
Post-dinner, we have some quiet time – reading books, storytelling, or light discussions about the day. This is followed by Isha's prayer, which wraps up our day on a peaceful note. The kids head to bed, and I usually take an hour or so to wrap up any pending work or simply relax.
